For self:
Dear Lord God, I confess that I am an angry person. I have tried to control others - and in doing so, I have often lost all self-control. I have blamed others for not being perfect, and yet I fall so short of perfection. I have made excuses for myself, but I have failed to allow anyone else to make excuses. My anger has hurt the people that I love the most. Forgive me, Lord. Purify my heart with the blood of Jesus Christ. Please take control of me, God. I give myself to You. Remind me often that Jesus died so that I might live. Remind me often I need Jesus. Save me by your grace. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Change me that I might love others the way you love me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

For abusive husband:
Dear Lord God, you know all about _’s anger and the problems it has caused in their home. Please intervene in his life. Silence Satan’s lies of blame-shifting and excuse-making. Cause him to be remorseful and repentant for his behavior. Change his attitudes, his actions and his words through the power of the Holy Spirit. Lord, please protect _ and their children. Give her wisdom and grace. If she needs to call the authorities, please give her courage and strength. If she needs to leave to protect herself and her children, please guard and shield them and take them to safety. Lord, we put our trust in You alone. Please intervene. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
