Divorce

Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:4-6)

The sacrifices of God area broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. (Psalm 51:17

Dear Lord Jesus, You understand the agony of divorce, the rending of the one flesh, the anger that consumes. You can identify with every emotion. You understand rejection -- because Your family and Your disciples fled when you needed them most. When all the sins of the world were laid upon Your back, You knew pressure and anxiety. When nails were pounded into Your hands and feet, You experienced excruciating pain. You understand abandonment and loneliness, because Your Father turned His face away from You while You were on the cross. Jesus, You bore the agony of the cross so we could know the healing of our souls. Lord Jesus, gently lead __ to Yourself, heal the wounds, and enable __ to love and trust again. Surround _ with Your peace and Your Presence. Though our desire is for repentance, restoration and a glorious reunion, we join You in praying: “Not my will but thine be done.” May _ experience your Never Stopping, Never Giving up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love. May _’s love for You, dear Jesus, grow and grow. Fill _ with hope and expectation that the best is yet to come, because Your love endures forever. Amen.
