Forgiveness

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. (Colossians 3:12-14)

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. (James 5:16)

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:31-3)

WHEN I NEED TO FORGIVE SOMEONE:

Dear God, Oh, how I need You! I am more sinful that I can even admit. You have forgiven me so much. Help me to believe that my debt to you is paid in full by the blood of Jesus Christ and that nothing I do can make you love me any more. Help me to be ever grateful for your forgiveness of my sin. And - in response — help me to forgive those who have hurt me. Lord, you know all about my struggles with __. Please pour out your grace on our relationship. Replace my bitterness with compassion, my wrath and anger with gentleness, my slander with truth.  Please give me your love for _ - that I might be kind and tenderhearted.  Lord, you know that I long to hear the words, "I was wrong" and you will change _ heart so that that will happen - but even if repentance never comes, help me to continue to forgive and cling to your amazing grace.   May my life be a platform for your glory to be displayed. In the strong and loving name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
