Salvation
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23
The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23
But God demonstrates His own love for us is this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. (John 3:16-18)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, for it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (Romans 10:9-10)
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
For myself:
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. But I put my trust in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His life, death and resurrection paid my debt to God and provided for my forgiveness. Thank you, Lord, for saving me and forgiving me. Thank you that nothing can ever separate me from your love. Please change me from the inside out - and give me hope and assurance of a lifetime and an eternity with you. Amen!
For myself (a life of suffering
Dear Lord Jesus, There is nothing that I can do that would make You love me more and nothing I have done that makes You love me less. Your presence and Your approval is what I need for everlasting joy and freedom. I know now that you understand all of the pain that I feel. Thank you for leaving heaven and coming to earth to die on the cross for me. Thank you for crying for me. I have not allowed my suffering to draw me to you. Instead, I have resisted you, turned my face away from you, allowed my hard to harden and tried to cover the pain and protect myself in other ways. But now I understand how my sin has separated me from you. Please forgive me. I want you to be my Rescuer. I want to make room in my heart for you so that you will come into my life and fill me up. I give you all the pain and anger and hurt from my past. Please set me free from the chains that have kept me bound all these years with the key of your grace. Fill my heart with your love and joy and peace. Open my eyes to see you more clearly. Give me the desire, faith, strength and courage to follow wherever You lead. Thank you for your unconditional love for me. Thank you that you will never leave me or forsake me. Thank you for the difference that you’re going to make in my life. As you have loved me and given me grace, help me to love others and give them grace, too. Thank you that I am safe in Your loving arms - forever and ever. Amen.
